University of San Jose Holds Appointment Ceremony for Its Fourth Presidential Term
On August 27, 2026, the University of San Jose (USJ) held an appointment ceremony for its new president. Dr. Claude Wang, Founding President of USJ and Chair of the USJ Board of Directors, formally appointed Dr. Bin Li as President on behalf of the newly constituted Board.
Dr. Li is the second individual to serve as President of USJ and will lead the University during its fourth presidential term. His three-year term began on August 27, 2026, and will continue through August 26, 2029.
Dr. Li previously served as the Founding Vice President of USJ. He has extensive experience in higher education, teaching and research, technology development, university administration, and industrial innovation. His appointment marks the beginning of a new stage in USJ’s institutional development.
Under the leadership of the new Board and President, USJ will continue advancing artificial intelligence education, academic program development, talent cultivation, and industry–academia collaboration. The University will also explore innovative educational models and organizational structures for higher education in the age of artificial intelligence.
Dr. Bin Li is President and Founding Vice President of the University of San Jose (USJ), Vice Chair of ALLCPR, and Vice President of the California Sichuan Chamber of Commerce (CSCC).
Dr. Li has devoted his career to higher education, teaching and research, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship. His professional experience encompasses university teaching and administration, scientific research, technology development, and industry leadership. He previously served as a lecturer at Tsinghua University and was a member of the Tsinghua Entrepreneur Association. Throughout his career, he has remained deeply committed to educational innovation, industry–academia collaboration, entrepreneurship, and the international development of higher education.
Dr. Li studied at Tsinghua University and Stanford University, earning a doctoral degree in science and a master’s degree in computer science. He possesses a strong academic and technical background in computer science and engineering. He previously served as a senior engineer at Yahoo and later as a partner and senior executive at Tend, a Silicon Valley Internet of Things company, where he helped lead the company through a successful acquisition. These roles provided him with extensive experience in technology development, team building, corporate management, and industrial innovation.
For many years, Dr. Li has actively contributed to innovation and entrepreneurship in higher education. He is committed to advancing the integration of teaching, research, technology, and industry practice while developing innovative talent-education systems and exploring new models of university education for the age of artificial intelligence.
